So, my laptop finally decided to interrupt me in the middle of a job application to “upgrade” itself to Windows 10. The only change I have noticed, aside from the layout, is that iTunes now just freezes when I open it. So I downloaded the installer for the most recent version, and.... it just freezes when I so much as ATTEMPT to open it.
Now, I have a bunch of CDs I need to put on my iPod and no way to do it. How the hell do I fix this mess?

Great, thanks!
Now... do you know how to make my sound work again? It just cut off while playing Beam.NG and now it won’t work on Youtube or anything else. Second time this has happened.
Fuck you, Microsoft. I would have willingly upgraded to this when it was finally stable, but no... You had to delete a half-hour’s worth of progress on a job application in order to force this pile of crap onto me without warning. Fuck. You.

We’re talking about Windows 10. And we’re talking about iTunes.
There is only 1 pile of crap in this conversation, and it isn’t Win 10.

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree strongly. For most things, yeah, iTunes sucks. But for importing CDs onto an old iPod and trimming off the occasional extended intro or hidden track after 8 minutes of silence, it’s the easiest way. I don’t use it for anything else.

update your audio driver

I sit here listening to people whining about a forced Win10 update and scratch my head. My laptop asked me to update exactly once, back when it was first launched, I said no, and it hasn’t asked about it since.

Same thing happened to me. But then, out of nowhere, it decided I had no choice in the matter anymore.

Huh, it’s actually claiming that another application is using the speakers, so nothing else can. And it won’t tell me which “application” is to blame.
I’ll try that though and hope it works.

I think your comment kind of proves that iTunes sucks, right? If you can only name two, fairly uncommon use cases...

I meanwhile said sure, and have no complaints, Windows 10 has worked fine.

Well yes, but those two things are things that it does perfectly. So it’s not exactly a pile of crap in that regard. Windows 10, on the other hand..... it doesn’t improve a single thing. Just makes stuff worse.

I own a Win7 install disk so if it ever forces me to update I will literally pull the plug and reinstall 7

Did that, still didn’t work, updated drivers, restarted again, finally works. Ugh. This is a headache.

What version are you coming from? That’s a super unique opinion. I don’t remember a Microsoft OS that has had this much fanfare since XP.

8 or 9. Can’t remember. The weird one where the start menu is full-screen and accessed by putting the cursor in the corner. It worked perfectly well for everything.

If those weren’t expensive just for the sake of being expensive (you know it’s true) I would consider buying one.

That’s 8. I liked 8 as well, but it wasn’t as good as 10, once you get used to it. Shouldn’t take long, even if there are a couple of kinks that need ironed out.

Well, I’ll take your word for it.... I fixed iTunes, I fixed the sound issue, and now my taskbar is broken. All the tabs are invisible and if I click them I get an error. I can only switch between them via alt+tab. And my battery level, internet connection, clock, etc. are all missing. It’s just the start button, (which doesn’t work) the taskbar settings thing, and the notifications thing.
If I get a chance to try it out without something being broken, maybe I’ll learn to like it.

Lol, I don’t disagree. But I have had mine for 6 years (holy fuck its that old?!?) and the only problems besides the stupid cd tray have been my own fault

I know this is a couple days old, but I just saw this. I just fired up my 8 year old MacBook Pro yesterday for the first time since November, still works no problem.
